Dr. Edward Luttwak holds the Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Washington D.C. In recent years, he has served as consultant to the National Security Council, Department of State, office of the Secretary of Defense, and the U.S. Army. He frequently lectures at universities and higher military schools in the United States and abroad. He has published several books, including The Political Uses of Sea Power, The Grand Strategy of the Roman Empire, The Grand Strategy of the Soviet Union, The Pentagon and the Art of War, On the Meaning of Victory, and, most recently, Strategy: The Logic of War and Peace. His articles appear often in leading journals, and he is a member of the editorial boards of The American Scholar, Washington Quarterly, Journal of Strategic Studies, and The National Interest.
