General Robert H. Scales, Jr. is a graduate of West Point with a PhD in History from Duke University. A veteran of Vietnam and a Silver Star recipient, General Scales served over 30 years in the U.S. Army culminating in a tour as the Commandant of the United States Army War College. Since 2002 Dr. Scales has served as Senior Vice President of Sylvan Learning Systems. He is a distinguished author and recognized expert on modern warfare. His works include Certain Victory, Firepower, Future Warfare and Yellow Smoke: The Future of Land Warfare for America’s Military. His current book, co-authored with Williamson Murray is titled The Iraq War and is available from the Harvard University Press.
